Pennsylvania Independent Oil & Gas Association Energy Education Program: 2012-Present
The Pennsylvania Independent Oil & Gas Association (PIOGA), whose mission involves maintaining Pennsylvania as the keystone to America’s energy future, approached our company in 2012 for assistance in developing a Pennsylvania Energy Education Program. The program provides free energy-centric workshops for K-12 classroom teachers. A "teach-the-teacher" format was chosen so that the next generation of energy-consuming citizens could be informed most effectively. Workshops survey the instructors and build upon their existing knowledge through lessons on energy usage in PA and the United States, renewable versus nonrenewable energy resources and their respective implications, the processes involved in harvesting energy and making it available for public consumption, as well as existing energy-relevant social, economic and political issues. The instructors are given an overview of how to best gauge their personal energy consumption, and tips on how to encourage their students to be conscious and conservative in their own usage. Counsel on assisting students navigate career options in Pennsylvania energy is also provided. Each instructor is given an extensive energy education kit to take back to the classroom and opportunities to receive additional mentoring beyond the event are also available.

“When PIOGA decided to develop an energy education program in 2012, I sought out a curriculum specialist with experience and chose The Gove Group. I could not be happier with our decision; Sue and her team took our ideas and dreams and made them reality. I am truly looking forward to working with this team of education specialists for years to come. “
